why it’s so good to be home

I’m at home in Oak Bay right now. We’re spending the week here visiting Ben’s Nana. My mother still lives in the same place I grew up, in a rebuilt house on the same lot. This means that Ben gets to play on the same beach across the street that I loved so much as a child.

There is something extremely special about being able to see my own child happily playing in the same place I found so special when I was small. Watching him throw rocks in the water, and investigate the tide pools, it reminds me how much I loved doing the same things as a little girl. And it’s wonderful to be able to see him taking the same joy in that small, rocky beach that I did.
