last day in the binoculars

I’m about to traipse off to the Agency for the last time.

This is the entry I wrote when I started.

I have, actually, learned a lot since I’ve been there. The way I understand my job today and the way I complete my tasks and projects is radically different than it was a year and change ago. I have learned everything from the sneaky techniques of ad networks right up to how to make a professional looking Powerpoint presentation for a campaign plan.

The Agency is the most solid career job I’ve ever had – and the one that has really put me on the track of my current career choice in online media buying. I feel like I owe them for that. The job I moved to Los Angeles for a year ago is the equivalent of an actress’ big break. It is, quite possibly, one of the top ten best things that has ever happened to me.

And today is the last day I’ll go to work at the place that has been such an integral part of my Los Angeles experience. I moved here to take this job and chase this line of career a year and change ago. I have gone into work at the Agency ever since. What is it going to be like to graduate from that? What will it be like to live here, but with a core part of my life changed?

I guess next week, I’m going to find out. It doesn’t stop me from being absolutely terrified though – for all my strength, I am afraid of change, afraid that whatever happens next will not make me as happy as what I left it for. I know, in my heart, that I am making the right decision to leave, but it doesn’t stop me from being afraid that, as time goes on, I’ll wish I hadn’t left the Agency after all.

Today is my last day at the Agency. Fortunately, to use a cliche, it is also the first day of the rest of my life. It’s just a job, I know that – but it has been the first job to mean this much to me.

  1. Good luck, honey… I know you’ll do great in your next incarnation. πŸ™‚

  2. Semi-incarnation – but thank you πŸ˜‰ Most of my life is staying the same – just not the 45 a week I’m at the office plus the 10 I’ll be working for the poker client.

Actually, if money buys me a personal trainer and new clothes – it WILL be a complete reincarnation soon.

Thank you for your support though πŸ™‚
