better living through chemistry

I have come to the conclusion that my entire personality is based on caffeine. This was reached after I cut back to 1 1/2 cups this week, and suddenly got depressed. But after drinking another cup this afternoon, suddenly, I’m cheerful and optimistic again.

This is good and bad for the following reasons:

GOOD: Can be jolted out of mood swings by Diet Red Bull
BAD: DEFINITELY not healthy to consume as much coffee as I do.

  1. I’ve been getting jittery lately after a large coffee from starbucks. That can’t be good, can it?

  2. Lately? You didn’t before?

A venti is just way too much caffeine – even for me. And it also depends on what you’ve eaten – if you’re hungry, you’ll get way more jittery than not.

  3. Heard news report on CBC’s 6:00 radio news yesterday about Cindy Sheehan’s vigil outside of the Bush ranch. I heard it and thought, “Hey! Wasn’t she on the CODEPINK newsletter or something?” And she was. So you did good because one more person (even though I don’t count for much because I’m a moderately centre-left Canadian) knows about the cause.

But on the other hand, don’t burn yourself out – you can’t do much good if you’re getting to the point where coffee and the internet are your saviors.
